Dr. Ganna Lyashenko

Senior Associate Editor
Chemistry – A European Journal

Time: 4:00 pm

Language: English

After her chemistry studies at the National Taras Shevchenko University in Kiev, Dr. Lyashenko did her PhD at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz on "Molybdenum Dioxo Complexes with Nitrogen-Based Ligand Systems Relevant to Oxotransferases". For her Postdoc she then moved to the University of California Riverside to focus on the spectroscopic and electronic structure of the DMSO reductase.

Following the standard scientific practice, Dr. Lyashenko published several articles about her findings during her time in research. After returning to Europe the young scientist changed her perspective from an author to an editor by starting her career at Wiley-VCH in Weinheim. Today, as a Senior Associate Editor of "Chemistry - A European Journal", she is responsible for the selection of articles for publication and copy editing (peer review). Furthermore, to maximise the journal's academic quality her task is to carry out content analysis and to acquire editorial highlights content. Dr. Lyashenko's position comes also with a lot of administrative work like the coordination of the publisher's freelancers work.

Especially in the beginning of a scientific career scientists encounter many challenges when publishing their research results. Therefore it is highly advantageous not to miss Dr. Lyashenko's insider tips for successful submissions.
