Regulars' Table
Science Slam

Speakers:
Leonard Pasqualini, Werner Schlemmer, Monica Fernández-Quintero, Robin Poller

Date
6/9/2021

On June 9th, 2021 our third Science Slam took place as part of our Young Chemists Regulars' Table. This time, however, due to the Corona pandemic, the Science Slam was streamed online via Youtube. Also this year, four brave slammers gave an insight into different topics, as always in both a scientific and an entertaining way. The first slammer, Robin Poller, gave us a little insight into the science of the highly complex E-numbers which are used to declare food ingredients. Werner Schlemmer explained to us how ducks have made their way into electrochemistry. Then Monica Fernández-Quintero presented her research area "Molecular Mechanics". Finally, Leonard Pasqualini, our defending champion, explained in a very humorously way exactly how "Wesplein and Feiglein" help each other to reproduce. After the end of the first round, we unfortunately had to say goodbye to Werner Schlemmer and the remaining three slammers were allowed to try their hand at a round of Powerpoint Karaoke. After these pedagogically particularly valuable presentations, a clear winner emerged. Monica Fernández-Quintero is this years' winner of the Science Slam and she and all participants can look forward to a surprise reward for their participation.
