As the next generation of chemists, the fate of our future and our surroundings lies in our hands. With an increase of awareness for our environment and our planet, the number of problems in need for solutions has increased.

We, the Austrian Young Chemists Network, made it our task to provide an opportunity for young chemists to present themselves and their research in order to bring these problems and their solutions to the attention of the general public.

The "Jungchemiker Nachhaltigkeitspreis" (Young Chemists Award for Sustainability) rewards outstanding research conducted by young chemists in Austria, which has the potential to greatly influence our country's future.

You are younger than 35 years old, member of the Austrian Chemical Society (GÖCH) and most of your research was performed in Austria? Send us a short description of your research (max. 2 pages (A4), 12pt) and a conformation that it is indeed your work (publication or thesis) to office@jungchemiker.at - deadline: July 31st 2020. With a bit of luck, you will be able to present your research as part of our program at our Young Chemists Summit, which will take place online from September 21-23, 2020.

Additionally, the price is awarded with an amount of money corresponding to the number of days until "Earth Overshoot Day" in 2019. The day marks the point in time when the resources that are naturally regenerated in one year are used up. In 2019, this day was reached on 29 July, after 210 days. Thus, the winner of this year's sustainability prize will receive 210 €!

Active members of the Austrian Young Chemists Network are excluded from the competition. Applicants have no legal claim to the approval. All rights of reproduction and copyright remain with the author
